A:(Pointing at the picture) Who is this on the water buffalo?
B:That's my grand-father. He was a farmer. When he was young, he had to take the water buffalo to graze in the field.
A:Oh yes, that was the best job in most farm families. That's where many of them learned to play the flute.
B:My grandfather did that too. He used the time to study instead.
A:That's interesting. Go on!
B:My great grandfather was a merchant who ran a small business. He couldn't afford to send my grand father to school.
A:So he became a self-taught man?
B:Right. Later he was a soldier and a fireman in the village. When he was middle-aged,he became a great man, quite famous.
A:In what field?
B:As a leader of police officers in charge of the whole country.
A:Is he still in that that type of work?
B:No. He retired from that. He is a senator now.
A:Would you want to be a senator?
B:Well, maybe when I get old. But first I'll be a lawyer.
